Transparency Watch Organization vision is a world in which governments, businesses, civil society and the daily lives of people are free of corruption. Transparency Watch Organization mission is to promote transparency and ethics as a part of the fight against corruption within Pakistani society.

Transparency Watch Organization works to improve Pakistan social norms of transparency. We believe that such norms are the foundation of democratic society. Societies which lack effective transparency norms create the possibilities for the unjust distributions of resources and the lack of opportunities. We work in cooperation with the business and public sectors, and we believe that change can only come through cooperation across all sectors of society.
Transparency Watch Organization is a non Governmental membership organization. It exists for and because of its members. The term NGO is usually applied only to organizations that pursue some wider social aim and are not overtly political organizations such as political parties. In many jurisdictions, these types of organization are called "civil society organizations" or referred to by other names.

The Definition of Transparency?

Characteristic of governments, companies, organizations and individuals of being open in the clear disclosure of information, rules, plans, processes and actions, as a principle, public officials, civil servants, the managers and directors of companies and organizations, and board trustees have a duty to act visibly, predictably and understandably to promote participation and accountability.
Transparency can encourage civic engagement and accountability by rendering the public decision making arena more accessible. This in turn strengthens confidence in governments and public agencies, and has a positive economic impact, also on GDP.

What is corruption?

Corruption is the abuse of entrusted power for private gain. It hurts everyone whose life, livelihood or happiness depends on the integrity of people in a position of authority
Corruption is the abuse of entrusted power for private gain.
It means that:

Decisions are taken for private interest instead of for public benefit.
Democratic institutions are weakened. Political costs manifest themselves above all in loss of legitimacy, and of public trust and support.
Instead of fair competition based on price, quality and innovation, corruption leads to competitive bribery. This harms trade and deters investments.
The environment is threatened. When environmental protection agencies are corrupt, the very foundations of sustainable development are eroded.
Human right abuses flourished. As corruption increases regimes become more secretive, and basic social and economic rights are threatened.
Corruption makes it impossible for millions of people, especially in developing countries, to earn an honest living.

The conclusion - Corruption hurts everyone!

The risk of corruption and inequalities in Pakistan are very real in almost every walk of life including purchase, land allocation and management. The consequences to the poor often takes the form of difficult access to assets, unawareness of Government policies and legal frameworks, ignorance about transactions and prices, misallocation of rights, land grabbing and abuse.

Transparency can encourage civic engagement and accountability by rendering the public decision making arena more accessible. This in turn strengthens confidence in governments and public agencies, and has a positive economic impact, also on GDP.
